GuestViews continues to open its European borders: after the Ixelles Museum, we are very excited to add the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium to our customers! This group of museums is among the most prestigious in Brussels. If you’ve never heard of these landmarks of Belgian and European art, this article is for you!
Among the museums of the institution is the Oldmasters Museum. It houses a great many works from the 15th up until the 17th centuries, including some masterpieces from southern Netherlands such as paintings from Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Bruegel the Elder. You also can’t miss the works from the Flemish school, featuring some by Rubens, among many others. Other works are on display including some by French and Italian Masters.
You can also visit the Fin-de-Siècle Museum, dedicated to the arts between 1868 and 1914. In this unique and tumultuous period the arts are flourishing in Europe, from Émile Verhaeren’s urban poetry to the birth of Art Nouveau, revolutionising architecture and design as a whole.
As for the Modern Museum, it houses works from the end of the 18th century to today, including modern and contemporary creations. It is currently waiting for a location worthy of its collection, so the Museum displays small selections of works that regularly go in and out of its storage rooms.
If you were in need of a cultural outing in Brussels, you have to come discover these museums and share your opinion on the GuestViews digital guestbook! As it happens, the institution also oversees a few other museums such as the must-see Magritte Museum.
